Health Diplomats operates as what Charles Handy coined the “Three Leaf Clover” organisation, built around three distinct teams – a core of essential executives, supported by a global network of health diplomats and lastly a team of flexible, customised labour, as required for each project.
Meet our
president
Dr. Delon Human is a Physician, Global Health Advocate, Founder of THR.net and currently serves as President and CEO of Health Diplomats. He has acted as adviser to three WHO Directors-General and to the UN Secretary-General on global public health strategies.
Dr. Human is a published author, international lecturer and health care consultant specialising in global health strategy, corporate and product transformation, harm reduction, access to healthcare and health communication. He was a clinician for two decades, part of the paediatric endocrinology research and diabetes unit at the John Radcliffe Hospital and was involved in the establishment of several medical centres, a hospital and emergency clinic in South Africa.
Dr. Human completed his studies in South Africa, Oxford University and the Edinburgh Business School. He holds qualifications in medicine (specialist family physician), child health and business studies (MBA).
Our Team
Jessica Perkins completed her degree in Chemistry, at the University of Southampton, and worked as a scientist in the R&D of a multinational company. The focus of her work was the novel implementation, development, and testing of analytical devices to characterise the aerosols from reduced risk products, in the tobacco and nicotine industry. She then became an innovation product developer, where she focussed on materials science and device development within the heated tobacco products category. Jessica is now a harm reduction advocate and leading several advocacy platforms (including THR.net) communicating harm reduction science.
Dr. Hazel Lincy Ebenezer is a Human Rights Consultant based in India. She holds a Ph.D. in Women’s Rights Law from Kent Law School, University of Kent, where her research focused on the intersection of law, cultural norms, patriarchy, and private forms of violence against women in India. She has also served as an adjunct professor and guest lecturer for Bachelors and Masters students. Hazel has dedicated her career to raising awareness and advocating for policies and opportunities that empower individuals and communities across the world.
Ilne Weyers possesses a decade of experience in social media, bringing a strong skill set, and colourful understanding of the digital marketing landscape to the team. Ilne is deeply passionate about tobacco harm reduction and cessation, actively working to support those looking to make healthier choices. Along with the social media team, Ilne steers numerous digital platforms (including THR.net), striving to provide the public with access to the latest and most accurate harm reduction science.
Bryan Steenkamp is a dedicated freelance Social Media Executive and Content Creator relaying medical and harm reduction research to the online world. Drawing from his prior managerial experience in the vaping consumer industry, he has helped thousands of people quit smoking. As a former smoker himself, Bryan is on a mission to advocate for smoking cessation and hopes to save countless more lives, just as he was saved.
Amy holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and International Relations, complemented by a Diploma in Sound Engineering. Her multifaceted background allows her to approach challenges with a creative and insightful perspective. Amy’s true passion lies in tobacco harm reduction and cessation, where she tirelessly advocates for healthier choices and supports those on their journey to quit smoking. She also excels in harnessing the power of social media, using her skills to drive awareness and foster meaningful connections.
Chase Wallace is an undergraduate student at Emory University in Georgia, U.S.A. He is pursuing a career in medicine with a potential focus in international medical policy. Chase is a registered Emergency Medical Technician, an experienced YouTube video creator with over 870,000 total views, and appreciates good graphic design. When he’s not in class or working on projects for the Student Government Association, you can find him exercising at the gym.
Dr. Benjamin Human is a medical doctor, specialising in Accident and Emergency Medicine, in the UK. He also consults for Health Diplomats, as a Public Health Analyst.
His consulting work focuses on public health modelling, and advocating for risk-proportionate, evidence-based health policy interventions, including tobacco harm reduction.
Benjamin graduated from Leeds University, speaks multiple languages, and in his spare time enjoys skiing in the French Alps, mountaineering, playing rugby and trail running.
Joseph Magero is a dynamic public policy expert and dedicated harm reduction fellow committed to pioneering progressive solutions in the field of public health. With a keen focus on evidence-based strategies, Joseph has emerged as a trailblazer in advocating for pragmatic policies that mitigate the adverse effects of various societal challenges.
Driven by a passion for public health and a desire to effect meaningful change, Joseph has been instrumental in raising awareness and championing evidence-based strategies for harm reduction. His advocacy efforts have extended beyond borders, engaging with policymakers, health organizations, and local communities to promote pragmatic solutions aimed at reducing the prevalence of smoking and its associated health risks.
In 2019, the International Network of Nicotine Consumer Organizations (INNCO) awarded him advocate of the Year.
Lizann Keuler has a varied education, which include a bachelor’s degree in law and post-graduate certificates in linguistics, education, financial management and marketing. She is a language specialist with over a decade of experience in academic editing and thesis development. She writes articles and edits/proofreads reports for Health Diplomats. As a former smoker, she understands the challenges that smokers face when quitting. She is passionate about providing clear, accurate information on tobacco harm reduction to as wide an audience as possible.
